The patternWhat travellers report, again and again
The same handful of themes run through the feedback on these trips, and they are worth knowing before you choose one. They hold across both islands — the Nassau boats and the two that leave from Port Lucaya on Grand Bahama.
- The crew makes the day. Named guides come up far more often than the reef does, and the trips with the smallest caps draw the warmest words.
- Time in the water is the real variable. The complaints are almost never about the boat and almost always about a stop that felt short. Check the in-water time on the card, not the total length.
- Getting to the dock catches people out. Several departures do not include transfers, and taxi fares get quoted generously to visitors. Agree the fare before you get in, or book a trip that collects you.
- Not every reef stop is the good one. On the busiest shared runs the coral gets worn, and travellers say so. The smaller boats and the kayak trip reach quieter water.
- Value is judged on what is included. The trips with lunch and a bar in the fare are rated higher than the cheaper ones that sell food at the beach, even where the reef is the same.

Went out solo and had a wonderful day. The Bahamas snorkeling was the best I have done anywhere, the pig beach was extraordinary, and the crew stayed friendly the whole way.
